 It seems People's Climate March made history last Sunday... The number of protesters exceeded records on simultaneously held series of demonstrations about climate justice. SCI took part on some local levels.

A few days later, on the 23^rd of September, leaders and high ranking representatives of 120 countries and different interdisciplinary business sectors summited in the UN headquarters to boost the progress of climate action, and most importantly, to actually put the topic back on the international agenda. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon (who wasalso present days before at the march) talked about feeling a "change in the air". He was content with the results... The preparatory aspect of the summit which should lead through this year's COP20 Lima conference to next year's COP21 Paris is fulfilled. Immediate voices from a less "self-congratulatory" mood to harsh(1) criticism(2) highlighted, this was not enough.

Deeds not words!

Yes, it is the old SCI motto that once again proofs to be meaningful: we demand concrete steps to be taken in Lima and Paris. We have high hopes and expectations... we support optimism. We are idealists - we know that change can happen if we all act accordingly. We are trying to focus on opinions that articulate this was a vital event, and that the world leaders hear the voices chanting on the streets.

We stand solid on the ground of promoting a Climate for Peace. We wish to achieve it via international volunteer actions, through personal contributions and joint commitments. We march, watch closely, and work on local levels,experiencing and passing on resilient, sustainable ways of living... We believe in the personal pronoun 'WE'.
